Young dog training
Your dog is in the phase of life between the 5th month and approx. 1 year and is therefore in youth development. Puberty starts between the 6th and 12th months and once again confuses what has been learned as well as the behavior of the young dog through structural changes in the brain and hormonal changes in the body. In addition to significantly less self-regulation and impulse control as well as frustration tolerance, this also means less cooperation, risk assessment and the ability to recall what has been learned from memory. On the other hand, however, the young dog is "suddenly" more independent, explores more and more widely, is more anxious, becomes stressed and excited more quickly, may also be more ambitious in hunting, more vigilant, more picky when it comes to food, is more quickly distracted and overwhelmed, develops separation stress and shows the first signs of sexually influenced behavior. However, with this knowledge (and the knowledge that this is just a phase in the dog's development that is going to pass), we are able to design training tailored to this.
In the young dog group lesson which are going to be seperated by gender, we will discuss age-related issues and problematic behavior and work on them together. The groups are kept small in order to do justice to each individual dog and their owner. Basic socialization and puberty-related behaviors will be topics that arise and will be discussed in detail. Of course, fun in the group should not be neglected and will be controlled, stress-free sothat educational play is enabled. We use the advantages of training dioecious as testosterone does not cause, but reinforces, existing aggressive tendencies. Testosterone triggers a chain of hormonal reactions that influence behavior. Therefore, male dogs often react violently and persistently. In training there is no need for competitive behavior among each other, but rather positive, focused and controlled young dogs.
Our credo is: Reinforce (reward) desired behavior and avoid undesirable behavior. Even the simplest exercises can help you to organize your everyday life better and to confidently avoid any conflicts that may arise.
